Adapt A Vet Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, a Veteran must meet the following criteria:

  • Own their own home that needs the requested adaptation.

  • Be current with all property taxes.

  • Be honorably discharged or retired from US Armed Forces from any time period.

  • Have a VA Disability Rating.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Once an applicant passes the screening criteria, their application will be submitted to the Adapt A Vet Application Committee for review.

  • If the eligibility requirement is met and the Veteran is accepted into the program, an In-Home assessment will be performed by Adapt A Vet.

  • An adaptation plan, budget, and financial strategy will be created specifically to address the work needed. Based on available capacity and Adapt A Vet staff availability, Adapt A Vet will use their resources to access a variety of funding sources to accomplish the work: VA funding, grants, community volunteers, community donations, donors, and other funds.
